About us
Roman Scuplak
Roman graduated from Kings College London in 1982 with an honours degree in law and then worked for the Engineering Employers Federation in the East Midlands for six years, first as Industrial Relations and Legal Officer, then as Association Secretary and Legal Officer. As well as responsibility for the administrative and legal affairs of the Federation, he advised its member companies on all aspects of human resources and employment law and represented them in employment tribunals and in collective bargaining with trade unions.
In 1988 he moved to IRPC Group, the country’s then largest external personnel and employment law specialist, as a consultant, again advising client companies on all aspects of human resources and employment law and represented them in employment tribunals.
In 1995 he established and managed IRPC’s Litigation Department, which provided representation to clients in around 1,500 employment tribunal cases each year through a team of 25 consultants, mainly solicitors and barristers.
In 2002 IRPC became part of Croner, the country’s largest professional publishing group. In 2003 he was appointed Croner’s Helplines Manager, responsible for the company’s employment, safety, tax and commercial legal helplines managing 90 advisers and dealing with 25,000 client enquiries a year. Later in 2003 he was appointed Croner’s Director of Servicing, responsible for the delivery of all consultancy services, including all helplines, the litigation department and the employment, health and safety and tax consultancies. He managed a team of over 300 professional staff.
In 2005 he left Croner to establish himself as as a self-employed consultant in a consultancy with his wife, Caroline, advising clients in all aspects of human resources, change management and employment law, providing representation in employment tribunals and delivering seminars and courses across the whole range of human resources and employment law.
Working almost exclusively for employers for over forty years, he has advised in excess of six hundred employers, from large organisations with household names to small local businesses, has provided representation in well over a thousand claims before almost every tribunal in the country and has delivered over two hundred seminars and courses.
Caroline Scuplak
Caroline graduated from Huddersfield University in 1986 with an honours degree in business law and then worked for the IRPC Group for ten years. Starting as a consultant, she advised client companies on all aspects of human resources and employment law and drafted the whole range of employment documentation, both individual documentation and company-wide policies and procedures. She progressed into a management role, ultimately managing a department of forty staff.

Whilst at IRPC Group, she undertook a project as part of the company’s successful bid to obtain ISO9000 Quality registration, eventually being appointed the company’s Management Representative for Quality.

On leaving in 1997 she continued to work for IRPC Group in a self-employed capacity before joining Roman to establish a new Human Resources and Employment Law consultancy.
Though engaged in all aspects of the work of the consultancy, she has specialised ever since then in giving advice to clients and in the drafting of their employment documentation and policies.
Though she returned to Croner Group in 2015 for five years as their Senior Documentation Consultant, she then resumed working in the consultancy in a similar role as previously.
